Biography

 

DR. SVETLANA MASGUTOVA has been leading research since 1989 for the MNRI®, and has studied the influence of primary movements on different aspects of development and learning. Her work focuses on the concepts of Developmental Movement and Reflex Integration processes to facilitate sensory processing, emotional recovery, motor-physical and sensory-motor rehabilitation, as well as learning and developmental enrichment.

 

Dr. Svetlana Masgutova received her Ph.D. in Developmental and Educational Psychology in 1988 from the Scientific Research Institute of General and Developmental Psychology of the Russian Education Academy. Her studies were based on the works of L. Vigotsky, I. Bozovich, I. Dubrovina and N. Tolstyckh. She has held university lecturer positions in psychology in Ufa, Moscow,  and Moscow district Universities, as well as conducted scientific research at the Russian Education Academy.

 

Currently, she is the Director of the International Dr. Svetlana Masgutova Institute of Movement Development and Reflex Integration (Poland) and the Svetlana Masgutova Educational Institute ® for Neurosensorimotor and Reflex Integration (USA).  She has written and published, externally and internally, over 100 articles, manuals, and books on psychology, education, Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration, Educational Kinesiology, Art-Kinesiology®, and movement based development. She is an active organizer of scientific-practical conferences and the Leader of the International Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI®) Team.  Dr Masgutova has been a lecturer for post-graduates at the Early Intervention and Neuro-speech Development Faculty at the High Education University and Medical Academy in Wroclaw, Poland for the past seven years.

 

Dr. Masgutova has received 12 acknowledgements and awards for achievement by universities in Russia, and in 1996 was presented an award by the Educational Kinesiology Foundation (USA) for outstanding results and development of the Educational Kinesiology Program in Russia. She was also acknowledged through two awards from the parents and specialists in Poland for outstanding results in work with challenged children. Her book Trauma Recovery – You Are a Winner — A New Choice Through Natural Developmental Movements (coauthor) with Pamela Curlee, received a Regional (Book) Award "Iowa 2007.” In 2008 she was featured as the Member of the Year in the Madison Who’s Who (USA).

 

She is the organizer of 43 International Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration and rehabilitation camp/workshop clinics for children with developmental deficits. The clinics are located in Poland and the USA.
